This is the ideal place for your weekday lunch. The M-F lunch menu has a selection of sushi and Thai dishes that's varied enough to keep you coming back, and the portion and price are perfect. Best of all, it's never too busy, so you can get a delicious meal and be in and out within your lunch hour. Oh, and then there's the neon illuminated faucet in the restroom!

Amazing!!!! I'm a thai food fantastic and super picky with Thai food.... And by far, this is the best in Miami!!!! Chill ambiance, elegant decor, the food just fresh and full of flavor. I'm super impressed. Caveat: might be a bit spicier than your usual Thai restaurants.

The food was great, for my first time eating Thai food. The spicy tuna roll melted on my tongue as well as the shrimp tempura roll. The shrimp pad thai had huuuge shrimp and was enough to feed two. Only downsides were it took a long time to get the pad thai and check. Also some lying scumbags scarfed down their food only to later claim a hair had been on their food.

It was a great experience from beginning to end. We were seated in a very nice table by the sushi bar. The music was right, the lighting was perfect and we were promptly greeted by our server (Pongy). She was very pleasant and always had a smile in her face. Her suggestions for all on point. Chef Bee (owner and executive chef) came to greet us and my friends (2 other people) as well. We were blown away with the type of hospitality we were receiving. The Thai fried chicken was amazing, nice and crunchy and the sweet and sour sauce was delicious. The Bokchoi was nice and crunchy and not oily at all. The white fish with truffle was one of the hit of the night, almost every single dish though, it was served in a personal spoon ( bite size); it was like an explosion of flavors in your mouth. The pan fried chicken dumpling and the wasabi pork dumplings were a perfect combination between dough and protein. Crispy duck with red curry was unbelievable, nice and crunchy, tender, moist with pieces of pineapple to balance out the heat of the curry and the aroma of the basil was just delightful. Drunken noodles were nice and spicy, white noodles with shrimp. A nice way to end this beautiful and outstanding meal was with fried cheesecake, vanilla ice cream topped with an apricot sauce. -I forgot to mentioned, I've tried UNI before (sea urchin) in many places and didn't like it. Chef bee insisted on trying UNI there and man I'm so happy I did.

First off, don't trust the map, as it shows the location across the street. Thankfully after a quick scan of Yelp pictures I noticed it was next to Lime which then lead me to the right plaza (it's the one with Petco!). I had friends in town who wanted Thai for breakfast/lunch, and although this wouldn't have been my first suggestion, someone in the group had been here before and wanted to come back, and since we were headed to SoBe anyways, it kind of made sense. Why wouldn't this have been my first choice? Well mostly due to price. There are lots of amazing Thai places that are charging half of what this place is charging, but I'll give it to them that the ambiance here is slightly nicer. My other issue, they have sushi and thai and personally I prefer to find places that do one thing only and do it right. I'm hovering around 3 and 4 stars....3 again because of pricing, but 4 due to service, which really was fantastic and they did a great job pouring sake, getting the door on our way out etc. so I'll round up in this case. Although upon arrival I was starving I wasn't really sure what I was in the mood for, but in the end went with my go to Pad Seew with all of the proteins, and shared a tuna tataki to start. I also had a bite of my friends sushi rolls which were tasty, but slightly falling apart. My food was decent, but my friend's crispy duck with volcano sauce was amazing. The sauce itself was "whatever" but they sure got the duck just right! Highly recommend this dish (which you can get with about 8 difference sauce options). I won't be rushing back, or telling everyone I know to come here, but could see myself coming here if I need a place to impress someone in the area.

This place was supposed to be good... Well located off Biscayne in a nice street mall. Decor is quite nice and the sushi bar also looks nice. The place is clean... So thats that for the positive! Service way below average... Our server tried to sell as many expensive items as he could!!! Nop, I do not like that!!! Specialty Sake, Kobe beef... Nop... We already started on the wrong foot! We ordered some food, some sashimi appetizers (charged 30 % more for salmon only). The food at its best was average... Actually not even... My Pad Thai was horrible! The sushi rice for the nigiri's was also not good. The spicy salmon on top of fried rice, tasteless... My miso soup WAS good... All in all this is a place I will not come back! Sorry and enjoy.

Found this great place off of yelp! My boyfriend and I decided to give it a try and we can't wait to come back. The staff here are super nice and the chef came to our table and spoke to us. We order several items from their colorful menu. Enjoyed everything!

I have to say: I feel like quite an ass for shopping at Costco so often, and suffering with their food court pizza, when I could be having an amazing lunch at Oishi. For $9 or so, you get a spring roll, followed by a heap of rice and a "bowl of delicious" in the usual greatest hits of thai food: red curry, pad thai, Penang, massaman, etc. I used to love Penang, but it has that fish sauce aftertaste that can really linger. This time I tried the massaman, and it has the same rich peanut flavor without the sour aftertaste. Chock full of cashews too. Really good, and a great value (with tax and tip about $13). You get a little more value at nearby Panya Thai in 163rd street (which also rates 5-star for lunch), since there you also get a soup or tasty salad for about the same price, but the convenience and ambiance of Oishi makes it equally compelling. Would love to come for dinner, but the prices are multiples of the lunch prices.

Awww man Oishi Thai has some really good food and pretty neat presentations. Sometimes the food seems too pretty to eat, until you smell it and your mouth begins to water! I have eaten here so many times and i've only been disappointed once. My favorite dishes are the curry sea bass and the fried lobster. They serve beer wine and sake. And their sake selection is pretty impressive. With the nearby options of Tgif, Lime and Chipotle I rock with Oishi Thai most of the time.

This restaurant is such a gem; it's absolutely astonishing that it's not busier! The food is fantastic and well presented. A couple of things to know: 1) The portions are small 2) When they say spicy, they mean it. Thai food usually comes out like that so this wasn't surprising for us, but something to keep in mind. We started with a spicy tuna avocado cucumber roll, which wasn't the best ever. Also the spicy mayo we got on the side wasn't quite what we were used to either. Probably going to stay away from Sushi there going forward. As an entrée, I got the Red Thai Curry with Chicken, which was spot on! It was hot and sweet with the coconut milk. Very nicely executed, but again, small in size. My girlfriend got Chicken Pad Thai, which came out much spicer than she's used to as well. I would definitely recommend the place in terms of ambiance and Thai Cuisine. You can sit on the floor in the back if you'd like, which is nice and authentic for a short period of time!

I have been to Oishi Thai before but had not been back in a couple years i would say. Finally decided to come one evening during the week with a couple friends for dinner. This place is an unassuming little restaurant located on a strip mall. You'd never think the food is good for the looks of it, but as i was the firt time i visited, i also was tis time around. The food is fresh, basic rolls but good ingredients. They have a good selection of Sake and we ordered hot and cold sake. The cold sake is my favorite and i like it unfiltered. I wish i could remember the name of the sake right this moment. Smooth. We ordered 2 rolls and they were fresh and tasty. I wouldn't say excellent as i have had better rolls in other establishments but they were yummy. I ordered the miso cod, as i love cod and it did not disappoint. My friend ordered a side of spinach and that came with mushrooms. I found it to be way too salty. The decor is minimal but the chairs are comfortable. The restaurant was not busy so we got a good table and no one was sitting right next to us which is a good thing for me because i don't like the restaurants that packed everyone like sardines and you feel like you are having dinner with the people right next to you. Also, the service was not the best but it was friendly, and at least the server was not on top of us the whole night like some places where they want to hurry you up so you can leave and they can turn the table. We just sat there talking for hours, had a good dinner, nice sake and good conversation and at no point felt rushed. If you are in the neighborhood, try it. A little hidden gem among the fast food places on the strip mall.

I went to try this place for dinner on our way home from a movie at the aventura mall since our staple thai food , Ricky is closed for the week while they are on vacation. It is fairly big for a Thai place and thy had lots of seating . Staff is very friendly and accommodating . We had the a som Tum salad and edemame for appetizers , which were both delish ... Only thing is som Tum is huge and is the same cost as an entree . Next we had tofu pad thai and basil chili with tofu and a side of spinach. Spinach was tasty .. A little salty and both of our meals were bland , the sauces just did not bring it home . I would of gone back if it was better priced , it was pretty pricey for thai. I will stick to sawadee in Normandy and Ricky by Johnson and Wales.

4.5 Excellent all around very classy Thai place. I had visited here years ago, and living in Brickell, it's a little bit of a drive to get up here, but after my visit yesterday for lunch, I would definitely say it is worth the drive. Very very good lunch. Great food...very tasty and exceptional value. Sushi, pad thai, sashimi, teriyaki chicken...all high quality and delicious. Good selection of combo meals. Would absolutely come back in a heartbeat.

First Thai restaurant I went to in Miami. It's a little pricey but very good. They are also open late for dinner which was convenient for our schedule. The decor is nicer inside than it looks from the outside. A lot of people were celebrating birthdays, graduations, etc. when we went but it wasn't overly noisy. Service is good, vegetable spring rolls, shrimp pad thai, and red curry were all delicious. They also have outlets which were convenient for charging my phone (rare at most restaurants around here). There is a sushi bar if you're interested in that. I would go more often, but I'd rather go somewhere a little less expensive on a weekly basis. Overall a great spot for dates.

The best, lower key Nobu or Zuma alternative. The food is just delicious, and always fresh. The service is always great, the food is consistently well prepared. Prices can tend to be a bit high in regards of the setting, however it is almost justified as the quality is always met. Anytime I am in the area, this is where I'll eat, anytime, everytime.

  • Ronald S.

Just ate there and the sushi is below average. I did notice that all the fish in the sushi was room Temperature which is strange but still the taste of everything seemed the same. The worst part was the check, we paid 175$ per couple with is nuts to me, especially for below average sushi. There are much better sushi places that you can go to. I am never coming back here. Service was ok .

This little gem hidden in a street mall has one of the best sushi in Miami! Fish is super fresh and chef Bee always comes up with a new dish. Staff is very friendly and always in hand to guide you through the menu that also has Thai dishes.

I have now been coming here for 11 years and things have only improved. The sushi is still superb and the Thai curries are fantastic and very authentic. They have added some amazing new dishes that are very imaginative and delicious. Same great service. Still one of the unsung best restaurants in the Miami area.

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the area. The servers always remember us. They have great lunch specials/prices. The Panang curry is my favorite. The curries here are really creamy like I like them. The Pad Thai is always yummy and constant. They aren't afraid to make the food spicy here. And if u go the sushi route, get the lobster roll.

Fabulous - very high quality on both Japanese and Thai cuisines. It's fine dining, not a neighborhood joint (nothing wrong with a joint, but its a different experience).

5 stars well deserved. Both the service, quality/taste of food deserve 5 stars. Chef Bee loves his food and came over to describe his creations and tantalize us with more fabulous dishes. This place is definitely a gem worth going back over and and over. The menu keeps evolving which is another plus to me.

Really fresh raw fish. Good innovative rolls and great sashimi / tiradito Hot plates are also great. Try the sea bass miso and miso soup. a bit expensive, but overall great place with great service.

This place is underrated. This is a hidden gem. More like that Chef Bee is the hidden gem. Chef's creations and the selection of the fish is extraordinary and rare. The sushi was really fresh and all of the appetizers were each besting the other. Will be back.

  • Paul K.

I would give 2.5 stars but that's not an option. The place is extra mediocre. They can't make up their minds if they want to be Thai or Japanese or Korean or Chinese restaurant. How about picking one and being the best at it. No dice here. And how people are giving them 4 & 5 star reviews? Wtf? It's a place worth trying but not worth a 2nd visit.

  • Vanessa P.

Pleasantly surprised to find this place! They offer indoor and outdoor dining, my party chose to sit inside because we had a bit of catching up to do. Very nice interior decor and service. We tried the Red Curry and the veggie Pad Thai. You can tell the authenticity of the place because of how they ask you how spicy you want your food! Good food portions and good value for money.

Delicious deep fried bok choy with fried garlic, this place is located in Biscayne Commons, a new shopping center across from Total Wine on Biscayne Blvd. and 146th Street. We had sushi also which had fresh rice that doesn't taste like it was stored in the refrigerator. The atmosphere is like you are in an upscale city block with outdoor tables and chairs to "hangout" and live music. The restaurant is upscale and has all the offerings of a sushi Thai restaurant but has an added umph to the dishes. "Oishi" means delicious in Japanese and it live up to its name. Live music Friday nights.

Excellent food. Nice variety of plates ans tastes. Its the third time I come and I can blindly recommend it. The Tom Yum Chicken, Pad Thai and the Live Fresh Whole Fish are some of the best plates I've had in a lomg time.

  • Shawn C.

I'm being generous with the three stars...this place has beautiful decor, but the service was mediocre. The waitress showed more attention to the table of 8 and I had to ask another server twice where was my waitress. The sushi and combination rice was bland...we had the beauty and the beast. The only good items were the fried shrimp goyza and the garlic fish. If you want better service and more flavorful sushi go down the street to Sushi House...order the Godzilla roll and the Cubby Comfort!

I have been coming to Oishi Thai for 10 years. The quality of the sushi they serve is second to none. From the basics, to the exotics, the sashimi is ALWAYS fresh and delicious. It truly is quality you can taste. No matter how busy they are, the service is always excellent. Highly recommended for anyone in the NMB area who enjoys a laid back scene and great sushi.

Yummy. We had Coconut milk chicken soup that was to die for.....tofu salad was refreshing and the pork pad Thai (hot) was so good, that we wanted more. A fantastic eating experience, a little pricey but worth every single bite. Great selection of Asian beer and saki. Try this place!

Oishi Thai is one of my favorite Sushi/Thai restaurants. It is beautifully decorated and makes you feel relaxed and zen as soon as you walk in. As to the food, the sushi rolls are amazing and the tempura dinner is to die for! Perfectly fried, light and airy. You also can't go wrong with the duck in red curry sauce. Not just delicious, every meal is a work of art. Your plate is beautifully decorated. Chef Bee knows his stuff! Also, the service is outstanding. Everyone is so attentive, including Chef Bee who personally visits every table to make sure you are satisfied. Oishi Thai is definitely worth it!

Great dinner at Oishi Thai - we headed over from the beach to check out this restaurant because we loved Khong River under Chef Bee. We were not disappointed. The food was very fresh and you can tell it is high quality. We all shared the toro sashimi, the chicken satay, the tuna tacos, the black cod (my favorite), the shrimp pad thai, sticky rice tuna, tuna on plantain and a rainbow roll. Everything was superb and bursting with flavor. Inside the restaurant is very pretty and he service was exceptional too. I saw Chef Bee stop by each table to ensure the experience was memorable and everyone was happy - we were and we'll be back again!

Wow... I have been here many times over the years and boy did it fall off a cliff. The low points include: Spicy tuna smelled fishy and went back The pad thai was not fresh and the sauce was really sugary The fried shrimp - the shrimp tasted frozen - very small The place was dead, it was annoying to see how slow the food came out and the sushi chefs goofing off. The menu is really just massive and you have to wonder what is good on it. The good stuff: The waitress was nice - but the kitchen was slow and she kept apologizing. The fried rice was good, my kid loved it. Also, of concern was it was dirty and needs a good scrubbing. I usually go to Yakku-son... It is better quality and a lot less money. I'm hoping it was a bad day - and will try it one more time.

The food here is really top notch. Delicious, fresh, beautifully prepared and presented. Sometimes I feel that certain things are a bit overpriced. But I guess you pay for the ambience and the presentation. In any case, be prepared to drop some dough to eat well here. But in addition to very tasty Thai food (great red and panang curries, for example), they have truly great sushi. Their whitefish Tiradito (note that I am a crazy sushi snob and normally will only order sushi at 2 places in all of Miami- 79th street sushi bar and NAOE-- and once in a while Matsuri in the gables, also very good) is perfection. I would normally NEVER order something labeled "whitefish." But here this usually means cobia, snapper, or grouper. If it is cobia, I URGE you to get it. It is so freaking good. They also have Toro in fun dishes, if you want to pay crazy prices. It is delicious. Whatever you order, it will be delicious. I have also found the waitstaff to be helpful, attentive, and nice.

This is not our first experience here, and it will certainly not be our last. Our party had appetizers and mains, wine and beer. All dishes were very good -- the ones that needed to be spicy, were; those that were medium heat, were; all dishes were delicious and beautifully presented. My ONLY complaint is that the appetizers all came out at different times. I made a point of reminding the server that we'd need all entrees served at the same time. We chose to eat indoors because it is still not cool enough to eat outside. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone.

As an executive chef I feel that I can leave an honest opinion on meals that I have eaten at too numerous to count restaurants. Oishi Thai is one of those restaurants that I will not ever forget. The flavor, texture, and presentation was nothing short of brilliant. Service was outstanding. The overall experience my wife and I had was excellent. Thank you Chef Bee.

Consistently perfect food. This is a regular spot for me. The pricing is a not casual dining but you will realize why that is when you see your food being prepared and taste the results of the meticulous mastery behind the knives. The Thai ceviche is beyond words. My parents have been talking about the crisp whole fish in garlic sauce and the sautéed spinach w/ shitake and enoke mushrooms in glowing tones since I took them there a few times. The sushi is the freshest I've had in south Florida and the preparations make your taste buds dance (u must try the "tacos"). The crispy rice is a small rice patties topped witg a spicy tuna salad - crazy taste and texture! The miso Chilean Sea Bass is marinated for days and then grilled with the skin crispy - ridiculous. Tom Kha and Tom Yums are amazing. Curries are robust and very well balanced. Every dish is just beautiful. Honestly this is the only restaurant I could eat at every day and not tire of the food. Family owned, the owner is always there overseeing everything. Consistent quality... nom nom nom

Do yourself a favor. If you are thinking of trying this place, head a little further south to 125th street and go west about a block. There is a place called Ricky Thai Bistro. Don't let the look of the place fool you. Not only will you save about 70% from the ridiculously high prices at Oishi Thai, but you will be treated to far superior food. This is really a no-brainer in my book. And don't take my word for it

I've been to Oishi Thai about 10 times over the course of about 5 years, and it is my favorite Thai place north of downtown. If I could break it down, I'd give 5 stars for service, 5 stars for food, and 3 stars for value. My husband and I like to eat here together because when we sit inside, we have always been able to get a quiet, romantic table for dinner. The service is old-school splendid. Servers are extremely attentive, but unobtrusive. They all work together, so no matter who is walking by your table, if the water or wine glass is running low, it will be refilled with a smile. We have never had to wait for the check, and we've never had a mistake on our order. Requests for a split appetizer are happily accommodated, Questions about the menu are pleasantly and accurately answered without a sales pitch. The service at Oishi is consistently outstanding. The preparation of the food is also way above average. Seats at the sushi bar look into the open kitchen where serious chefs prepare meals in an immaculately clean, professional atmosphere. Sauces are authentically Thai. I can't comment on the sushi because I don't eat fish, but my husband always gets the tuna and devours it in about two seconds. The thing I appreciate the most is the way they treat vegetables. There's a beautiful variety with an array of colors and flavors. Each vegetable is prepared individually with attention to it's correct size and preparation method to achieve perfect texture. I've had vegetable tempura, curried vegetables with rice and with pasta, and the massaman curry with tofu is my favorite. The only drawback at Oishi is the prices. The cost is significantly higher than other Thai restaurants in the area. Of course, you get what you pay for. The unhurried elegant atmosphere and the precise, delicious presentation of the food make Oishi Thai a great place for a special dinner.

Simply the best! They are so great I just have to sign up on yelp to let all you yelpers out there know. I live in LA. And you guys probably know that LA has very good sushi places. I always stop by at Oishi Thai whenever I'm in Miami. They serve amazing sushi, Japanese and thai dishes. Order their toro tataki enoke mushroom dish. It literally melts in your mouth! Also they have that Nobu style black cod that is out of this world (for a much better price). Not forgetting a few mouthwatering and delicious appetizers like the white fish truffle that I had as well as the taco! Yes they have tacos! (Spicy tuna taco) yum yum!

I come here for lunch. They have great lunch specials. The fried rice is my favorite and comes with alot of goodness in it. :) The sushi is also very good and fresh! I've ordered out and I've also ate in. Their menu is very extensive! You'll for sure be able to find something you'll like or fall in love with here.

It deserves the 5 stars. The kind service and the food are too much. My favorite is the seabass curry pineapple which everything comes inside a pineapple. It's sooo good! The black cod for appetizer is very good also. Heard is a favorite here. My wife loved the dragon roll.

I Agree with everyone this place is overpriced. The food quality is pretty good. And presentation is sometimes outstanding. Service is lacking. Specially with those prices. Menu is huge and full of options. Never had to wait for a table. My friend could not get over how good the curry was. He was pretty impressed. So I will be trying that next time.

  • Michael L.

I have been here twice, the first of which was for lunch, and i had the thai food. The second and most recent time was for dinner on a saturday night and we had sushi. The lunch was better. The sushi was overpriced, but thats not why im ranking it 2 stars. The fish was NOT fresh at all. We ordered the sushi dinner for 36 dollars which comes with a salmon roll, tuna roll, and 9 pieces of chef selected nigiri of assorted fish. The sushi was below average in terms of quality of fish, as well as the preparation of the rice. The rice did not hold up, and frequently broke into a thousand pieces. Maybe because it was the end of the week, that could have attributed to the lack of freshness. Also we tried ordering the black cod miso, and they were sold out =( We also had the salmon tartar with cavier which was good, as well as the oyster cocktail which had a bit of uni (sea urchin roe) on top. The oysters were fresh as was the uni. If it hadnt been for these 2 dishes, this place would have gotten a 1 star, and no im not on the michelin system either, a 1 star yelp system! If you go here, go for the lunch specials. stay away from the sushi. Extremely disappointed at this place, considering the chef of the restaurant. Will not be returning for sushi.

  • Jordan N.

I'm giving it an extra star - I've forgotten how good of a deal it is for lunch until I revisited it again. I've read the other reviews, and I saw the dinner menu as well - yes, the prices are too much and I'd just stick with lunch here where they have an extensive offering for $9. And also stick with just Thai, not sushi. I never thought of Oishi Thai as a sushi place despite their offerings. After all, the name says Thai, not sushi! There were a complimentary gyoza and fried tofu per person that were tasty with some sort of lime sauce they provided. And the Thai meals were all tasty as they should be. I had the panang curry and also the clear noodles - both were great! I also changed white rice for brown rice for a dollar more - and it was definitely worth it! I love Thai places that serve good food with brown rice - it's just tastier in my opinion and the rice was made perfectly. I would definitely come back - for lunch. And for Thai.

Stopped by here last night because the waiting list at TGIF was way too long. My initial impression was that this place was pretty nice and upscale, but then I got my grease-stained menu. That killed my buzz and I began to fixate on other things that bugged me, like the whiny kids that were seated nearby, the awful muzak, and the lack of service. I ordered some vegetable fried rice and pad thai (sans eggs) along with some apple juice. That was the last time I saw my waitress. Well, she did eventually stop by to hand me the check. My needs were pretty much tended by the excellent bussers who brought me re-fills and whatever else I needed whenever they had a spare moment. If I had cash on me, I would have given them the tip instead. The food was tasty and very pretty, and even came with some orchids to dress it up. I was surprised by the quantity of food they gave me--there are still leftovers in my fridge, and I just had some for lunch! That bumped up my rating from a 2.5 to a 3.

Upscale Asian restaurant in North Miami. I work across the street so I take my clients here for dinner and never had a bad experience. The staff is very attentive. The place has dim lighting so it feels intimate. Music background is minimal so you can have a great conversation. The sushi and sashimi are always fresh. Try the Twin Dragon roll and Ama Ebi.

Craving Thai food, we had dinner here on Saturday night. We had the beef pad thai and the beef salad. Both tasted great and not greasy or oily like a lot of thai restaurants. We got there around 7 and it wasn't crowded at all but Im sure the place is probably busier later in the evening. There is nothing wrong I can say about this place. The atmosphere is nice, the wait staff keeps your water glass full and the food tastes great. Personally I thought the price for a glass of house chardonnay was a little pricy($9 a glass) so that would be my only complaint if I had to find something to complain about. If they have happy hour specials I think that would be the time to go for sure.

Excellent sushi. More than just a Mexican roll or run of the mill sushi place. The sashimi has always been incredibly fresh and the rolls are unusual enough to be of interest. Certainly pricier than your average sushi restaurant. I go every other month as it is a ways away but certainly worth the drive. Restaurant is very beautiful inside. Dark and candle lit. Service is very very typically Thai. Incredibly polite and welcoming. Hostesses (there are like 4 at one time) are very gracious greeting and checking up. There is an absolutely stunning Buddhist Mandela wood piece hanging from the ceiling. Took a friend once and she was completely perplexed why it took 4 women to greet and say goodbye (1 to walk you out and 2 holding the door and a 4th waving goodbye). If you've been to Thailand this is very common and is a refreshing change to be treated so courteously. Staff is unobtrusive but highly attentive. If you look up, more than 1/2 the time you'll see someone looking from afar to see if you need anything or if anything needs to be cleared. This is a review of the last meal I had there last weekend. Spicy monkfish pate- creamy and very rich. Great flavor and a great sweet sauce. Presentation as always was beautiful (someone has a pic of it posted). Not sure what the point of the masago was ontop as it didn't really lend any additional flavor but was ornamental. Ama Ebi w/garlic chips-downright yummy and a bit on the unusual side. Fried shrimp heads (yes, you eat the head) and very sweet shrimp bodies. Sashimi dinner- as always fresh and flavorful. (will post pic). Included traditional toro, salmon and such but also some interesting lettuce wraps of white fish. Panang duck - duck fried wonderfully and the panang was rich with coconut milk. Warning, very juicy vegetables. Bite into the green beans (unusual topping but it did go well) and sauce may spray your clothes. Thai donut- it's fried dough with lotsa' sugar. How can you go wrong? I bit unimaginative on our part but it was this or Krispy Kreme on the way home. Drinks, I've had their lychee martini before and it's killer. Tonight, hubby got a Thai tea (way to sweet for me but he liked it) and I had hot tea (nothing unusual, just green tea). Total was $137 before tip.

Really enjoyed a sushi meal here. The roll selection wasn't extensive, but all the rolls we got were decent, and additionally the sashimi appetizer was very good. This place has been reviewed as one of the only places in Southern Florida that always uses fresh fish instead of frozen; while I'm not sure if that's true (or even legally allowed by the FDA), this fish was very good. Their sake list was excellent, if slightly overpriced; we had a great nigori sake and then followed it up with a very sweet fruity sake that the waiter recommended to us. And their desserts were great! Fried cheesecake for the win. And now I'm off to the treadmill. ;o)

Top notch food. Everything we eat at this establishment is always first grade quality. The fish is always amazing. Some of the dishes I recommend are the hamachi with jalapeño, miso cod, and the toro with truffle. You will not be disappointed.

Possibly the best sushi dinner I've ever had, period. We didn't try any Thai dishes, so my review is limited to the Japanese menu, but what an amazing experience. The chef's Nobu training comes through in every dish - creative, delicate, and beautifully presented. Highlights includes the whole fish (with chunks removed, crisped, and put back on the frame for easy eating); spiny tail lobster in peanut sauce served on sticks; rock shrimp tempura in a chili sauce (like eating shrimp popcorn); the miso sea bass (like eating fish candy); and the thinly sliced hamachi with jalapeño. Deserts were equally good - the mango sticky rice was as good as in Thailand, and the selection of 6 ice cream balls wrapped in rice skin was a unique treat. P.S. The sake selection is amazing - the smaller bamboo size (served in a bamboo "pitcher") is perfect. Overall, amazing - expensive - Japanese bistro.

This place is worth checking out bc of their quality and service. Chef B and staff take it up a notch by checking for fresh seafood with local fishermen and beyond. He also is a classy guy that knows how to treat regulars with love and appreciation -5 stars for this place that takes sushi seriously and does the same with Thai food - They are artists that provide a heart filled dish every time! I feel like the red carpet comes out when I go there bc I know it is always good and always stellar fresh

I love this place! It's definitely not cheap so don't be fooled by it's location in a strip mall. They do have great lunch specials where I get my favoriate massaman curry chicken for $9. I have always had great sushi & sashimi and the massaman curry is one of the best I have had. The miso cod and popcorn shrimp are very good too. I had no idea about the nobu trained chef when I first went years ago so I had no expectations and loved it. It's been consistently good! It's in my neighborhood and I'm always amazed when friends tell me they drive from kendall or doral to come here. We have a few friends that always make a pit stop at oishi thai when they visit us. This is not a place that I would go to for a big night out - it just doesn't feel right in a strip mall especially since I'm there often for publix and other stores but it is a great place! The service has always been good for us and they are very kid friendly.

I've had the Basil Chicken and the Red Curry at Oishi. Both were fantastic - and at ~$9, it's a relatively inexpensive lunch.

Oishi Thai is a top of the line restaurant. The ambiance inside is very warm and the seats are pretty comfortable. The lighting is soft and a bit on the darker side, which makes for a very pleasant atmosphere. The Pad Thai dish tops the charts when compared to other restaurants. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Although they serve sushi, I tend to order Thai food here because it's so good and distinct.

It seems like a no brainer that Thai places open up a sushi bar. I never see Chinese/sushi or Korean/sushi or Viet/sushi as often. It seems to be the norm nowadays. Foodie beware, sushi coerces your taste buds to find a reason to like it while Thai food should light em' up with the aroma. Focus, think of location, food, and price point. Ok, breathe..here we go....Its in Aventura on Biscayne across from the luxury/exotic car dealership, nuff' said. When at Oishi Thai, one must pretend to have money. One must believe that what they're ordering should be a bit pricey for being in this zip code. I like to think of my 98' civic next to the Bentley was a rock star. Its hip here, chic, trendy, kewl...but Thai food should never be what they charge you here, and veggie pad thai should never be more than $10 anywhere (unless it has black truffles in it). Then again, that's Aventura and there's a lot of pretty people to admire. The food is good, I actually loved the duck I use to order and the Pad Thai was amazing--like orgasmic. Worst item is the spring roll for $7, I hope its organic. Most of all, I miss feeling pampered. Honestly, It is hands down THE MOST EXPENSIVE THAI PLACE I've ever eaten in America... that's located in a pretty strip mall. If you've got the money, come here for a lil' rendezvous with Thai cuisine, but just remember that the noodles weren't made from scratch.

As a self-proclaimed Pad Thai connoisseur Oishi serves the best Pad Thai I've had in South Florida so far. Location is not the best as it's in a strip mall on Biscayne Blvd. However, don't be discouraged you'll forgive and forget the site with every delectable bite. I of course had the seafood Pad Thai beautifully presented in the shape of a large bun wrapped by an egg and topped with four decent sized shrimps. It was so pretty you almost want to not cut in, but once you do, large mussels, scallops and pieces of squid greet your taste buds with a perfect balance of sauce and crushed peanuts. The menu is diverse and sure to satisfy both Japanese and Thai cravings. Prices are higher than expected (seafood Pad Thai $28) but the quality and taste match the price. I will revisit once my Pad Thai craving kicks in again.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Miami. I've been going there since it opened a few years back, enjoy almost everything on the menu, and the staff is always friendly. The Thai dishes are delicious, and the sushi is always fresh (best Salmon sushi in Miami). Oishi Thai can be a touch expensive, but well worth the price. For those who prefer a more affordable meal, check out their lunch specials during the day, as most Thai dishes are $9 and most sushi platters are $13. Favorite Dishes: 1. Combination Pad Thai 2. Massaman Curry 3. Salmon Sushi with Miso Glaze 4. Thai Donuts!!!!! :)

This place was very good, but not worth the money. $13.95 for vegetable pad see ew (with a weird aftertaste), and the same price for very tasty (but expensive!) vegetable fried rice. Unfortunately for carnivores like my wife, the prices for meat dishes are just crazy. $28.95 for mixed seafood pad thai!! The quality of the food is not significantly better than several Thai restaurants we've been to in Seattle, Chicago, and San Francisco, so we are not going back.

I came here to eat with my best friend I haven't seen for a long time. When Marco and I went in, there were two tables full, one of them being a group of 10-15 people. It was 10:30pm. We felt like we were in a romantic restaurant because of the ambience. lol The decor was very nice, though. Marco went ahead to order his crab soup, while I ordered the house salad with ginger dressing, which was very fresh and tasty.. Service staff were definitely attentive that it almost freaked us out. ;-P Then we ordered crab with red curry on white rice and beef Yakiniku. The mild curry was a bit spicier than expected but it was okay. I loved the taste of the beef Yakiniku, but couldn't finish it and decided to take it home. I would never order a dessert from here unless I share it with someone.. Green tea ice cream was like $7.. That was one of the lowest price for sweet stuff in this fancy restaurant. I can agree with some people about getting the similar food elsewhere but nothing tasted horrible.. so I'm glad it wasn't a waste of money.

To be honest, this place is nothing special. This is not my first time, but can always see it being my last. The food is all mediocre, and there are too many places around that have both better sushi and better Thai. The staff is extremely friendly, and they have good sake. I heard the lunch menu is pretty good, but haven't made it by yet. I wish the prices matched the quality of the food; I could see that improving its ratings. For the price you pay I'd rather go down the street to Sushi House.

I miss this place. When we lived in North Miami we were there almost every weekend. Now we have been in Boca for over a year and I have not had Thai food since then. I wish they were here. My husband missed the crispy duck and i miss the great soups and fresh sushi. Love Oishi Thai!!!

I was excited to eat at Oishi Thai. I just returned from a trip to Thailand not too long ago, and I got an authentic Thai greeting on the phone when we rang to reserve a table. Portions are large. It's nice that they have sushi and Japanese dishes, too. Sake and sake drinks are available in addition to beer & wine. My sake was tasty. IMHO, the food was below par and overpriced. (Pls keep in mind that my avg is based upon NY Thai restaurants, but there is plenty mediocrity there, too). The staff are nice enough, tho, and we had a pretty big table... I would probably give this restaurant another try if I lived in the hood. Has financial hardship had hit North Miami, while this restaurant was packed with ppl paying $20+ dollars for C- Pad Kee Mao? (Drunk Man Noodle -- excellent spicy dish when done right). If I hadn't tasted the goo stuff, I would give this restaurant another star. As I will be heading back to where I can get A- Pad Kee Mao for $9, I will skip Thai @ Oishi from here on out.

When I saw this place while eating breakfast at next-door Paul one morning, I got pretty excited. This was the first Thai place in South Florida without "Sushi" or "Teriyaki" accompanying the name of the place. I don't know what the deal is with SoFlo Asian cuisine, but nearly all the places believe they need to diversify and serve food from many different cultures. So, in seeing the name as only Oishi Thai, I thought this would be solely a Thai restaurant. Sadly, they could not resist the pull of South Florida diners who apparently demand this diversification in their Asian restaurants. There for the Thai food, we only ordered from that menu. A green curry and a Volcano Chicken, with a bottle of wine. The chicken was good, nothing wrong with it, but nothing phenomenal, either. The curry, however, was another story. This was a great Thai curry. Strong, and with the consistency of a thick soup which coated the sticky rice perfectly, we both tore through this dish until nothing was left. The waitstaff was good and very polite in their traditional uniforms, which both contrasted and made a nice accent to the more modern architecture inside. I will definitely go back when I feel the need for some great curry.

Oishi is one of the restaurants in heavy rotation at the office. We love it here. The lunch specials are reasonably priced ($9 +/-) and the portions are large. I typically order the broccoli & chicken, or the volcano chicken. Lunch specials include a spring roll. The atmosphere is pleasant and the wait staff is friendly. I have only 1 criticism, the god awful music. They must have found the 1 copy of Kenny G remakes Billboard Top 40. I've learned to tune it out.

One of the best restaurants in all Miami. Chef Bee, formerly of Nobu is amazing. The Black Miso Cod is out of this world. As is the crispy tuna tartar. Everything is great. Better than Nobu, but obviously, the location is not the best as it's in a strip mall on Biscayne blvd. Note: for those who enjoy a good cigar, and don't mind ordering to go, Oishi Thai will bring your order to the cigar shop next door... full service. Highly Recommended. Only problem I have is that the food is overpriced, especially considering the location. I ordered 4 sushi rolls that were recommended by the waiter without looking at the price only to find that they were charging me $29.95 EACH!!!! Absurd. I've eaten at some very expensive sushi restaurants and I have never paid $30 for a roll. I would give this place 5 stars if it weren't for some of the ridiculously over-priced items and the so-so location.

creative but not to my liking. nice chef resume and liked the specials but for me, they sounded much better than they tasted. presentation very nice i had the spicy black cod miso, which was a bit too sweet and soft rather than succulent the monkfish liver pate served with spicy Karashi, su miso, scallion and lump fish caviar had a watered down monkfish flavor the new style sashimi with yuzu, ginger, and sesame seeds and oil was interesting, but the scallops were pretty much overwhelmed by all the additives. i prefer more subtlety. ambiance is very fancy and feels like it belongs on south beach lots of higher priced menu items, i.e. expensive kobe burgers

Me and my bro randomly stopped here this week we were on the way to Lime and I all of the sudden wanted Thai. It's pricier than other thai places and wouldn't really expect that in a strip mall next to tgi fridays and pasha's. Food was flavorful. I'm Indian so the medium had to get a little extra chili paste for my taste and the noodles may have just been a touch overdone. The portion of the Pad Thai was large. The panang curry was good as well. We left comfortably full. total cost right under sixty with a couple of diet cokes. Wait staff was attentive. I don't think I'll be a regular but maybe if the lunch special that I'm reading about is good then I'll try it for lunch instead.

I love Oishi Thai and I'm honestly a little surprised at the mixed reviews. This place has my favorite pad thai. The curry here is very spicey, even when you order mild. I have to be in the mood for it. It's a bit pricey though so I can't come here as often as I like. Really good Thai salad. I love their miso dressing & their peanut dressing is good too. The wait staff is VERY nice and extremely attentive. I would recommend it for when you want to go out for a nice dinner and not a whole in the wall type of place (even though it's in a strip mall).

Have eaten hear many times since it opened because the food is good quality and the service was ok. That was not the case last night. We placed our order and everything went DOWN from there. After we ordered a family came in that was well known by all the chefs, servers, and staff because they ALL came over to greet them and their children. They received their food and we were still waiting for ours. When our food did come out it, 2 items were missing and the main dish was COMPLETELY WRONG. We asked to speak to the manager. Our food was delivered by someone else, when we asked again to see the manager she THEN identified herself as the manager. She did not offer any apology and said she couldn't do anything because our first server is related to the OWNER. We have eaten here so many times in the past (which the staff remembered) spending well over $200 each time, never complained before now and that is how they address a problem. That is a BIG problem. Customer satisfaction is Not a priority @ Oishi Thai.

Wide selection of Thai, cooked Japanese and sushi. Located in a strip mall on Biscayne, the restaurant has a very romantic decor and nice ambiance. The service is very good and the owner/head chef often walks to greet patrons (I'm a regular). There are "off-menu" special dishes available from time to time if you want a surprise. My favorites are the special pad thai (large portion) and black miso cod... They don't have a full liquor license but there is a nice selection of sake and beer.

BETTER THAN NOBU!! Thank you, Chef/Owner Bee, for opening a classy, friendly gourmet Thai/Sushi restaurant in NMB. Who needs the prices and hustle of South Beach? No one, now that you offer the very freshest seafood, flown in daily, and a wait staff that anticipates your every need. My friends and family have eaten here for years and highly recommend it to foodies of all ages. Fabulous wine selection to enjoy while listening to soothing background music. Wheelchair accessible for recovering skiers and a child friendly atmosphere that is conducive to bringing the rug-rats with you while you enjoy fine dining at its best; outdoor dining allows you to bring Fido too! Don't listen to reviewers who didn't appreciate the quality of the food: either they are lying or they ordered an item that they did not like (why not just send it back and order something else??). No restaurant will ever be 100% on every dish, not even Nobu!! Don't you look at prices before you order? Of course you do! Therefore, the complaints about the prices are ludicrous; if you believe that a dish is too expensive, don't order it! Also, pay little or no attention to reviewers who only dined one time: even the NY Times eat at a restaurant three times before reviewing!! So, if you are a foodie and don't mind spending a little bit more money for quality food, decor and service, DINE AT OISHI THAI for a TRULY ENJOYABLE DINING EXPERIENCE!!!

Visited for the first time this past week. It was my son and my birthday week, so that was all the excuse we needed to do a lot of dining! Like the decor, not typical at all and very welcoming. The service was great, attentive and friendly. And the food is out of this world. Seriously. We tried two appetizers: flash fried kale and a spicy tuna tacos. Both were really delicious. What you notice immediately is how balanced everything is - that a lot of thought has gone into the flavors and the presentation. Main courses were standard fare - always a good thing to test quality with: Shrimp Pad Thai and Chicken Massaman Curry. The Pad Thai was perfectly done. And the Massaman Curry was, arguably, the best curry I've ever had. I would have drunk it with a straw. You just can't fake flavors like that. Nor can you produce them quickly. That flavor was the product of expertise and allowing it to cook for the time needed to develop that depth of flavor. Luckily, I have lots of clients in North Miami Beach and Aventura. I'll be back many, many times!

Yummy! I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Good Thai is not hard to find in South Florida. Chinese and sushi? Another matter altogether, but Oishi is yet another Thai gem. I've read other reviews complaining about the price, and after seeing the menu, they are totally justified, but I happened upon a lucky strike... lunch specials! You can eat delicious curry or pad thai for under 10 bucks here if you go at the right time.

Note: On Yelp I review exclusively sushi bars. The bar was simple and attractive enough, without any flash. As a plus, it had a serving shelf. There was a slightly broader variety of fish than most places. The quality of fish was good, but not excellent. The rice was average and sweet. The chef was quiet and reserved, but friendly enough. I found his skill to be only fair though. If this is your neighborhood bar, great! I recommend it as such if you're a local and need a decent place to visit. If you're planning to travel to visit, you might try some of the other sushi joints in the area.

Nice place but I expected better. Pleasant enviroment, but some of the furnishings looked worn. Eel hand role was average. Pad thai should come with lime to squeeze. Not lemon. Tom khai soup was best! Green curry chicken was also average. Good ingedients and service! Would give then another try.
